Arias: "In this situation, we have to send a message of confidence and allow the players to overcome it"
In his 16 seasons as a Valencia CF player, Ricardo Arias experienced highs and lows. The club legend knows what is required to get a team back on track, and he offered some words of encouragement for the VCF squad ahead of their game against Getafe next weekend.
"In this situation, we have to send a message of confidence and allow the players to overcome it," said Arias, now a club ambassador, to VCF Media.
"The message has to be clear, firm and direct. We have a coaching staff who are taken onboard the commitment that the cause requires. Logically, the only thing that is overshadowing this are the bad results."
"The only way to act is to pick yourself back up, focus on the present and what is coming up instead of the past. You have to not forget that this is Valencia CF."
Arias will not be the only person providing a rallying cry to the players: The fans will also be attempting to spur the side on.
"The Valencia CF fans are very special, for many reasons. In any way that you can, support the team and have patience," he requested.
"The attitude from the team is good, but converting chances is lacking. Playing football isn't easy in situations like this. You have to let the players pick themselves back up and let them know that we all feel the same way."
Valencia CF's next opportunity to take 3 points in LaLiga comes on Sunday, in the 9pm CEST kickoff against Getafe.
